The Beast (15)

The Beast (15)

In the near future where emotions have become a threat, Gabrielle finally decides to purify her DNA in a machine that will immerse her in her past lives and rid her of any strong feelings. She then meets Louis and feels a powerful connection, as if she had known him forever.

The Beast is set in three eras in which our hero and heroine are reincarnated – or exist in parallel realities.  In 2044, artificial intelligence controls every aspect of life, and emotions are seen as disruptive. Gabrielle (Seydoux) undergoes a procedure to eliminate emotional pain caused by past-life connections. The narrative unfolds across three timelines, where Gabrielle repeatedly encounters different incarnations of Louis (MacKay). In Belle Époque Paris, he is a passionate suitor; in modern Los Angeles, he becomes a violent avenger. Their lives intertwine in haunting and mysterious ways, raising questions about fate, connection, and whether their love can overcome cycles of suffering.

Inspired by Henry James's novella The Beast in the Jungle, the film delivers a visually stunning and emotionally resonant experience.
